বিশ্বব্যাপী করোনা ভাইরাস মহামারী রূপ ধারণ করায় সতর্কতামূলক পদক্ষেপের অংশ হিসেবে গত ২৬ মার্চ হতে আগামী ৫ এপ্রিল পর্যন্ত দেশের সকল সরকারি-বেসরকারি অফিস-আদালত, ব্যক্তি মালিকানাধীন প্রতিষ্ঠান, গণপরিবহন চলাচল বন্ধ ঘোষণা করেছে সরকার।

এতে গরিব, দিনমজুর ও নিম্ন আয়ের শ্রমজীবী মানুষ কর্মহীন হয়ে পড়ায় পরিবারের ভরন-পোষণ যোগাতে পারছে না। এ ধরনের মানুষের সাহায্যার্থে শুক্রুবার ২৪ এপ্রিল নোয়াখালী জেলা পু্লিশ সুপার আলমগীর হোসেনের নির্দেশ নোয়াখালী -লক্ষীপুরের সিমান্তবর্তী হাতিয়ায় মোরশেদ বাজার হরণী ইউনিয়ন পরিষদে নদীপাড়ের শতাধিক পরিবারের মধ্যে নিত্যপ্রয়োজনীয় খাদ্য সামগ্রী চাল, আলু, ডাল, লবন, তৈল, সাবানের প্যাকেট অসহায় পরিবারের হাতে তুলে দেন হাতিয়া থানার মোরশেদ বাজার তদন্ত কেন্দ্রের অফিসার ইনচার্জ আব্দুল হালিম। 

এ সময় উপস্থিত ছিলেন মাইনউদ্দিন বাজার ফাড়ি ইনচার্জ মোঃ রমজান আলী, হরণী ইউনিয়নের স্থানীয় ইউপি মেম্বার মাওলানা আবু সাইদ ও ফাড়ির পু্লিশ সদস্যরা ।

নোয়াখালী পুলিশ সুপার আলমগীর হোসেন বলেন, করোনা ভাইরাসের কারণে উপার্জন বন্ধ থাকায় নদীপাড়ের সিমান্তবর্তী অসহায় সুবিধাবঞ্চিত পরিবারের কাছে জেলা পুলিশের পক্ষ থেকে খাদ্য সামগ্রী বিতরণ করেছি। ইতিমধ্য অসহায় বেদে, হিজরা,প্রতিবন্ধী, প্রবাসী পরিবারের মাঝে খাদ্য সামগ্রী বিতরণ করা হয়েছে। জেলা পুলিশের এ কার্যক্রম চলমান থাকবে বলে জানান পুলিশ সুপার।
