প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনা শান্তি-শৃঙ্খলা বজায় রাখার মাধ্যমে সন্ত্রাস, জঙ্গিবাদ এবং দুর্নীতিমুক্ত করে দেশকে আরও এগিয়ে নেওয়ার লক্ষ্যে তাঁর সংকল্প পুনর্ব্যক্ত করেছেন। তিনি বলেন, ‘আমরা সন্ত্রাস, জঙ্গিবাদ এবং দুর্নীতির হাত থেকে রক্ষা করে দেশকে আরও এগিয়ে নিয়ে যেতে চাই।’
প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনা আজ বৃহস্পতিবার দুপুরে বাংলাদেশ সেনাবাহিনীর শীতকালীন অনুশীলন-প্রশিক্ষণ উপলক্ষে আয়োজিত প্রীতিভোজে অংশগ্রহণ করে প্রধান অতিথির ভাষণে এ কথা বলেন। তিনি বলেন, ‘দেশের মানুষ শান্তিতে থাকুক, নিরাপদে থাকুক, উন্নত জীবন পাক—সেই লক্ষ্যই আমরা বাস্তবায়ন করছি।’ প্রধানমন্ত্রী তাঁর বক্তৃতায় সেনাসদস্যদের কর্তব্যনিষ্ঠা ও দেশপ্রেম সম্পর্কে সচেতন করতে বাংলাদেশ মিলিটারি একাডেমির প্রথম কোর্স সমাপনীতে ক্যাডেটদের উদ্দেশে জাতির জনক বঙ্গবন্ধু প্রদত্ত ভাষণের চুম্বক অংশ উদ্ধৃত করেন।
বাংলাদেশ সেনাবাহিনীর ৩৩ পদাতিক ডিভিশন আয়োজিত এই প্রীতিভোজ অনুষ্ঠানে সেনাবাহিনীপ্রধান জেনারেল আজিজ আহমেদ স্বাগত বক্তব্য দেন। এর আগে প্রধানমন্ত্রী বাংলাদেশ সেনাবাহিনীর শীতকালীন প্রশিক্ষণ–অনুশীলন (মহড়া) ‘অপারেশন বিজয় গৌরব’ প্রত্যক্ষ করেন। স্থানীয় সংসদ সদস্য, তিন বাহিনীর প্রধান, প্রধানমন্ত্রীর সচিব এবং উচ্চপদস্থ বেসামরিক ও সামরিক কর্মকর্তারা এই অনুষ্ঠানে উপস্থিত ছিলেন।
বাংলাদেশ সেনাবাহিনীর ৩৩ পদাতিক ডিভিশনের সার্বিক তত্ত্বাবধানে ৬৬ পদাতিক ডিভিশন এই শীতকালীন প্রশিক্ষণ–অনুশীলনের আয়োজন করে। বাংলাদেশ নৌবাহিনী এবং বিমানবাহিনীর সদস্যরা প্রায় ঘণ্টাব্যাপী তিন বাহিনীর সম্মিলিত এই মহড়ায় অংশগ্রহণ করেন। আধুনিক ট্যাংক, এপিসিএস, মিগ ফাইটার প্লেন এবং তিন সশস্ত্র বাহিনীর এমআই হেলিকপ্টারগুলো অনুশীলনে অংশগ্রহণ করে। সেখানে বাংলাদেশ সশস্ত্র বাহিনী এবং শত্রু বাহিনীর মধ্যে ছদ্ম যুদ্ধ অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। বাংলাদেশ সশস্ত্র বাহিনীর বিজয় অর্জনের মধ্য দিয়ে এই মহড়া শেষ হয়।
স্বাধীন দেশে স্বাধীনতা এবং সার্বভৌমত্ব রক্ষার গুরুদায়িত্ব সশস্ত্র বাহিনীর উল্লেখ করে প্রধানমন্ত্রী তাঁর বক্তব্যে বলেন, ‘বাংলাদেশ সশস্ত্র বাহিনী যেন স্বাধীনতা-সার্বভৌমত্ব রক্ষায় বিশ্বে মাথা উঁচু করে চলতে পারে এবং বিশ্বের সঙ্গে তাল মেলাতে পারে, সেভাবেই আমরা বিভিন্ন কর্মসূচি বাস্তবায়ন করে যাচ্ছি। যার শুভ ফল ইতিমধ্যেই সকলে পাচ্ছেন।’
শেখ হাসিনা জাতিসংঘ শান্তিরক্ষা মিশনে সশস্ত্র বাহিনী ও পুলিশ বাহিনীর ভূমিকার প্রশংসা করে বলেন, ‘বহু দেশে শান্তি স্থাপনে বিশেষ ভূমিকা রাখার পাশাপাশি সামাজিক কাজেও যথেষ্ট আন্তরিকতার সঙ্গে সশস্ত্র বাহিনী এবং পুলিশ বাহিনী ভূমিকা রাখছে।’
প্রধানমন্ত্রী বলেন, ‘অন্য কোনো দেশের সৈনিকেরা ততটা মানবিকতা দেখায় না, যতটা আমরা বাঙালিরা দেখাতে পারি। কাজেই সেদিক থেকে আমি মনে করি, প্রশিক্ষণ এবং সমরাস্ত্রের দিক থেকে বিশ্বের সঙ্গে তাল মিলিয়ে চলার উপযুক্ত আমাদের সশস্ত্র বাহিনী হবে। সে লক্ষ্য নিয়েই আমরা যথেষ্ট কাজ করেছি এবং উদ্যোগ নিয়েছি।’
বাংলাদেশ রেজিমেন্টসহ তিনটি পদাতিক বাহিনী আওয়ামী লীগ সরকারই করেছে উল্লেখ করে শেখ হাসিনা বলেন, ‘আমাদের দক্ষিণাঞ্চল একসময় অবহেলিত ছিল। সেখানে কোনো সেনানিবাস ছিল না। সেখানেও আমরা সেনানিবাস করে দিয়েছি।’
প্রধানমন্ত্রী বলেন, জাতির জনক ১৯৭৪ সালে যে প্রতিরক্ষা নীতিমালা প্রণয়ন করেন, তার আলোকে তাঁর সরকার ‘ফোর্সেস গোল-২০৩০’ প্রণয়ন করে সশস্ত্র বাহিনীর উন্নয়ন ও সম্প্রসারণে প্রচেষ্টা অব্যাহত রেখেছে।
এর আগে প্রধানমন্ত্রী আজ সকালে নোয়াখালীর হাতিয়া উপজেলার উপকূলীয় দ্বীপ স্বর্ণদ্বীপে পৌঁছালে সেনাবাহিনীপ্রধান জেনারেল আজিজ আহমেদ, ৬৬ পদাতিক ডিভিশনের জিওসি মেজর জেনারেল নজরুল ইসলাম এবং ৩৩ পদাতিক ডিভিশনের জিওসি মেজর জেনারেল আহমেদ তাবরেজ শামস চৌধুরী তাঁকে স্বাগত জানান। পরে বাংলাদেশ সেনাবাহিনীর কোয়ার্টার মাস্টার জেনারেল লেফটেন্যান্ট জেনারেল মো. শামসুল হক এবং প্রকৌশল বিভাগের প্রধান মেজর জেনারেল ইবনে ফজল শায়েখুজ্জামান দ্বীপের উন্নয়ন সম্পর্কে প্রধানমন্ত্রীকে অবহিত করেন। প্রধানমন্ত্রী স্বর্ণদ্বীপে সেনাবাহিনীর সদস্যদের মাধ্যমে নির্মিত ও বাস্তবায়িত তিনটি বহুমুখী সাইক্লোন শেল্টার, পরিকল্পিত বনায়ন প্রকল্প এবং এক মেগাওয়াট সৌরবিদ্যুৎ প্রকল্প উদ্বোধন করেন।
শেখ হাসিনা এ সময় বলেন, দেশের উন্নয়নে তাঁর সরকার স্বল্প, মধ্য ও দীর্ঘমেয়াদি পরিকল্পনা নিয়ে এগিয়ে যাচ্ছে। যার ভিত্তিতে বর্তমানে সপ্তম পঞ্চবার্ষিক পরিকল্পনার বাস্তবায়ন চলছে এবং অষ্টম পঞ্চবার্ষিক পরিকল্পনা হাতে নেওয়া হয়েছে।
দেশের দারিদ্র্যের হার ২০ দশমিক ৫ শতাংশে নামিয়ে আনা এবং জাতির জনকের জন্মশতবার্ষিকী উদ্যাপন উপলক্ষে বছরব্যাপী ‘মুজিব বর্ষ’ উদ্যাপনের সময়ে দারিদ্র্য আরও কমিয়ে আনার প্রত্যয় পুনর্ব্যক্ত করেন প্রধানমন্ত্রী। তিনি বলেন, ‘আমরা মুজিব বর্ষ উদ্যাপন করছি, সেই অনুষ্ঠান চলাকালে আরও দেড় থেকে দুই ভাগ এবং পরে আরও অন্তত তিন ভাগ দারিদ্র্য যদি কমিয়ে আনতে পারি, তাহলেই দেশকে আমরা দারিদ্র্যমুক্ত করতে পারব।’
সরকারের দারিদ্র্য বিমোচন কর্মসূচিতে সেনাসদস্যদের অবদান তুলে ধরে শেখ হাসিনা বলেন, দেশের সবাইকে অন্তত একটি ঘর তুলে দেওয়ার লক্ষ্যে সরকারের ‘আশ্রয়ণ প্রকল্প’ও শুরু হয় সেনাসদস্যদের সহায়তায়। তিনি এ সময় তাঁর সরকারের সামাজিক নিরাপত্তাবলয়ের বিভিন্ন কর্মসূচি, দেশের সব বিদ্যালয়ে বিনা মূল্যে পাঠ্যপুস্তক প্রদান, প্রাথমিক থেকে উচ্চশিক্ষা স্তর পর্যন্ত ২ কোটি ৩ লাখ শিক্ষার্থীকে বৃত্তি দেওয়ার কথা উল্লেখ করেন।

Sheikh Hasina mentioned that the three infantry forces, including Bangladesh Regiment, had done the Awami League government, saying, "Our southern area was once neglected. There were no cantonments. We have taken the cantonment there too. ”
The Prime Minister said that in light of the defense policy formulated by the Father of the Nation, her government has continued efforts to develop and expand the armed forces by formulating 'Forces Goal-20'.
Earlier this morning, the Prime Minister arrived at the coastal island of Sonia Dwipa in Hatia upazila of Noakhali. Later, Lieutenant General Md., Quarter Master of the Bangladesh Army. Shamsul Haq and Chief of Engineering Department Major General bin Fazal Shaikhuzzaman informed the Prime Minister about the development of the island. The Prime Minister inaugurated three multipurpose cyclone shelters, planned forestry projects and one megawatt solar power project, built and implemented by members of the army on the Gold Coast.

The Prime Minister reiterated her commitment to reduce poverty in the country by reducing the poverty rate to 25.5 percent and to celebrate the birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation, during the annual 'Mujib Year' celebration. "We are celebrating the Mujib year, if we can reduce poverty by one and two to two percent during the program and then at least three percent more, then we can make the country poverty-free," he said.
Highlighting the contribution of the army personnel in the government's poverty alleviation program, Sheikh Hasina said the government's 'shelter project' was launched with the help of the army personnel to give at least one house to all the people of the country. He mentioned various programs of social security of his government, providing textbooks free of cost to all the schools of the country, scholarship to 20 million students from elementary to higher education level.
