নোয়াখালীর বেগমগঞ্জ উপজেলার ছয়ানী ইউনিয়নে অভিযান চালিয়ে ইকবাল হোসেন (৩৯) নামের এক ইউপি সদস্য (মেম্বার) কে আটক করেছে জেলা মাদকদ্রব্য নিয়ন্ত্রণ অধিদপ্তর। এসময় তার কাছ থেকে একশত পিস ইয়াবা উদ্ধার করা হয়।
বুধবার জেলা মাদকদ্রব্য নিয়ন্ত্রণ অধিদপ্তরের সহকারি পরিচালক বিপ্লব কুমার নেতৃত্বে খালিশপুর গ্রামের রহিমবক্স হাজী বাড়ীতে অভিযান চালিয়ে তাকে আটক করা হয়। আটককৃত ইকবাল হোসেন ওই বাড়ীর দেলোয়ার হোসেনের ছেলে। তিনি ওই ওয়ার্ডের বর্তমান ইউপি সদস্য।
জেলা মাদকদ্রব্য নিয়ন্ত্রণ অধিদপ্তরের পরিদর্শক মো. আনোয়ারুল হক জানান, গোপন সংবাদের ভিত্তিতে জেলা পুলিশের সহযোগিতায় খালিশপুর গ্রামের ইউপি মেম্বার ইকবালের বাড়ীতে অভিযান চালানো হয়। এসময় তাকে আটক করার পর তার বসত ঘরে তল্লাশি চালিয়ে একশত পিস ইয়াবা উদ্ধার করা হয়। তার বিরুদ্ধে বেগমগঞ্জ মডেল থানায় মাদকদ্রব্য নিয়ন্ত্রণ আইনে একটি মামলা দায়ের করা হয়েছে।
