নোয়াখালীর সদর উপজেলার অশ্বদিয়া ইউনিয়নে অভিযান চালিয়ে রিয়াজ উদ্দিন (৩৬) নামের এক ইউপি সদস্যকে আটক করেছে ডিবি পুলিশ। এসময় তার কাছ থেকে ২১পিস ইয়াবা জব্দ করা হয়।
আটককৃত রিয়াজ উদ্দিন অশ্বদিয়া ইউনিয়নের আইয়ুবপুর গ্রামের জালাল আহম্মদের ছেলে। তিনি ওই ওয়ার্ডের বর্তমান ইউনিয়ন পরিষদের সদস্য।
জেলা গোয়েন্দা পুলিশের ভারপ্রাপ্ত কর্মকর্তা কামরুজ্জামান শিকদার বলেন, গোপন সংবাদের ভিত্তিতে বৃহস্পতিবার গভীর রাতে আইয়ুবপুরে অভিযান চালিয়ে ইয়াবাসহ রিয়াজ উদ্দিন মেম্বারকে আটক করা হয়েছে।
তিনি আরো জানান, এ ঘটনায় তার বিরুদ্ধে মাদকদ্রব্য নিয়ন্ত্রণ আইনে মামলা দায়ের করার পর আদালতের মাধ্যমে কারাগারে প্রেরণ করা হয়েছে।

The arrested Riaz Uddin is the son of Jalal Ahmed of Ayubpur village of Ashwadia union. He is a member of the current union council of that ward.
Kamruzzaman Sikder, acting officer of the District Intelligence Police, said that Riaz Uddin, along with Yaba, was detained on Thursday night on the basis of secret news.
He added that he was sent to jail through a court after a case was registered against him under the Drug Control Act.
