মুক্তিযুদ্ধের বিজয়, বীর বাঙালির জয়" শ্লোগানে নানা আয়োজনের মধ্যদিয়ে ৭ ডিসেম্বর নোয়াখালী মুক্ত দিবস পালিত হয়েছে। এ উপলক্ষ্যে জেলা শহর মাইজদীতে বর্ণাঢ্য শোভাযাত্রা, আলোচনা সভা, মুক্তিযুদ্ধ বিষয়ক শিশুদের চিত্রাঙ্কন প্রতিযোগীতা ও সাংস্কৃতিক পরিবেশনা অনুষ্ঠিত হয়েছে।
শনিবার (৭ ডিসেম্বর) বিকালে জেলার পিটিআই সংলগ্ন মুক্তিযুদ্ধের ভাস্কর্য মুক্ত স্কয়ারে পুষ্পমাল্য অর্পণ শেষে জেলা শহর মাইজদীতে র্যালী বের করা হয়। র্যালীটি প্রধান সড়ক প্রদক্ষিণ শেষে শহীদ মিনার প্রাঙ্গনের বিজয় মঞ্চে গিয়ে জাতীয় পতাকা ও মুক্ত দিবসের পতাকা উত্তোলন করা হয়।
পরে, বিজয় মঞ্চে এক আলোচনা সভায় জেলা মুক্তিযোদ্ধা ইউনিটের কমান্ডার মোজাম্মেল হক মিলনের সভাপতিত্বে প্রধান অতিথির বক্তব্য রাখেন, সদর উপজেলা পরিষদের চেয়ারম্যান ও জেলা আওয়ামীলীগের যুগ্ম সম্পাদক একেএম সামছুদ্দিন জেহান।
বক্তারা বলেন, দেশ স্বাধীন হওয়ার এতগুলো বছরেও হানাদার দোসরদের প্রেতাত্মা রয়ে গেছে। এসময় বর্তমান প্রজন্মকে দেশের স্বাধীনতা রক্ষায় ঐক্যবদ্ধ হয়ে কাজ করার আহবান জানানো হয়।
এ সময় উপস্থিত ছিলেন, অতিরিক্ত পুলিশ সুপার দীপক জ্যোতি খীসা, জেলা আওয়ামীলীগের সহ-সভাপতি আবু তাহের, শহর আওয়ামীলীগের সভাপতি আবদুল ওয়াদুদ পিন্টু, বীর মুক্তিযোদ্ধা মিয়া মোহাম্মদ শাহজাহান, মিজানুর রহমান ও মমতাজুল করিম বাচ্চুসহ মুক্তিযোদ্ধা, মুক্তিযোদ্ধার সন্তান এবং বিভিন্ন শ্রেণি-পেশার মানুষ।
এর আগে, সকালে মুক্তিযুদ্ধের ভাস্কর্যে পুষ্প্যমাল্য অর্পণ করেন জেলা প্রশাসক তন্ময় দাস ও পুলিশ সুপার মোহাম্মদ আলমগীর হোসেন।
এছাড়াও মৌমাছ কচিকাঁচার মেলা চত্বরে নোয়াখালী শিশু নাট্যমের উদ্যোগে চিত্রাঙ্কন প্রতিযোগীতা এবং সন্ধ্যায় বিজয় মঞ্চে প্রদীপ প্রজ্জলন, নৃত্য, গান ও মঞ্চ নাটক পরিবেশনা করে জেলার বিভিন্ন সাংস্কৃতিক সংগঠন।
উল্লেখ্য, ১৯৭১ এর ৭ ডিসেম্বর দখলদার পাকিস্তানি বাহিনী ও তাদের এদেশীয় দোসরদের হাত থেকে মুক্ত হয় বৃহত্তর নোয়াখালী। সে থেকে আজকের এ দিনটিকে ‘নোয়াখালী মুক্ত দিবস’ হিসেবে পালন করে আসছে মুক্তিযোদ্ধা ও জেলাবাসী।

Noakhali Liberation Day has been celebrated (December 7) through various programs organized in the slogan "Victory for the War of Liberation, Victory of the Bir Bangali".
A rally was held in the district town of Maizadi on Saturday (December 7th) after the wreath-laying ceremony at the sculpture-free square adjacent to the PTI. At the end of the rally main road, the national flag and the flag of Independence Day were raised on the victory stage of the Shaheed Minar premises.
Later, at a discussion meeting at the Victory Stage, the commander of the district freedom fighter unit Mozammel Haque addressed the chief guest, chairman of the Sadar Upazila Parishad and joint secretary of the district Awami League AKM Samchuddin Jehan.
The speakers said that even in the years since the country became independent, the spirit of the aggressors has remained. During this time, the present generation was called upon to work united to protect the independence of the country.
Additional police super inspector Jyoti Khisa, vice-president of Awami League Abu Taher, Awami League president Abdul Wadud Pintu, hero freedom fighters Mia Mohammad Shahjahan, Mizanur Rahman and Mumtazhul Muktar Shukhman were all present.
Earlier, Deputy Commissioner Tanmay Das and Superintendent of Police Mohammad Alamgir Hossain presented floral wreaths at the sculpture of the War of Liberation in the morning.
In addition to the painting competition organized by the Noakhali Shishu Natyam at the Bee Kachikachar Mela premises and in the evening, various cultural organizations of the district played the lamp lighting, dance, song and stage plays at the victory stage.
It is to be noted that on 7 December, Greater Noakhali was released from the occupation of Pakistani forces and their foreign allies. Since then, the freedom fighters and district residents have been celebrating this day as 'Noakhali Open Day'.
