নারীর জন্য নিরাপদ আবাস গড়ে তুলতে জেলার সুবর্ণচর উপজেলায় শপথ নিয়েছে তরুণ-তরুণীসহ স্থানীয় পাঁচশতাধিক মানুষ। দুপুরে উপজেলার সৈকত সরকারি কলেজ মাঠে আয়োজিত ‘নারীর প্রতি সহিংসতা রুখতে আমরা’ শীর্ষক এক প্রজন্ম সংলাপে অংশগ্রহণকারীরা এই শপথ নেয়।
বিগত জাতীয় সংসদ নির্বাচন পরবর্তী সময় থেকে এই অঞ্চলে সংঘঠিত ধর্ষণ, যৌন হয়রানিসহ নারীর প্রতি বিভিন্ন ধরণের সহিংসতার ঘটনা দেশব্যপী ব্যাপকভাবে আলোচনা ও চাঞ্চল্যের সৃষ্টি করে। চলমান এই সহিংসতার কারণ, করণীয় এবং স্থানীয় জনগণ ও সেবাপ্রদানকারী সরকারি-বেসরকারি প্রতিষ্ঠানগুলোর উদ্যোগে একটি সমন্বিত পথনকশা তৈরি করার লক্ষ্যে এ আয়োজন করা হয়েছে। আন্তর্জাতিক নারী নির্যাতন প্রতিরোধ পক্ষ উপলক্ষে পার্টিসিপেটরি রিসার্চ এ্যাকশন নেটওয়ার্ক- (প্রান) ও সাগরিকা সমাজ উন্নয়ন সংস্থার যৌথ উদ্যোগে এবং জাতিসংঘ জনসংখ্যা তহবিল এবং এ্যাকশান এইড বাংলাদেশ এর সহযোগিতায় এ সংলাপটি অনুষ্ঠিত হয়।
সংলাপে প্রধান অতিথি ছিলেন জেলা প্রশাসক তন্ময় দাস। অন্যদের মধ্যে উপস্থিত ছিলেন, একশান এইড বাংলাদেশের কান্ট্রি ডিরেক্টর ফারাহ কবির, অতিরিক্ত পুলিশ সুপার দীপক জ্যোতি খীষা, সুবর্ণচর উপজেলা নির্বাহী অফিসার এএসএম ইবনুল হাসানসহ অনেকে।
সংলাপে অংশগ্রহনকারীরা নারীর প্রতি সহিংসতা প্রতিরোধে সচেতনতা, প্রতিরোধ ও সরকারী-বেসরকারী বিভিন্ন দপ্তরের মধ্যে সম্বন্বয়ের উপর গুরত্বারোপ করা হয়। সে সাথে ”ঞ্চল্যকর নির্যাতনের মামলা দ্রুত বিচারে সম্পন্ন করে দৃষ্টান্ত স্থাপনের আহ্বান জানানো হয়।

More than 500 local people, including young men and women, have taken an oath in the Subarnchar Upazila of the district to create a safe haven for women. The participants took the oath in a generational dialogue, 'We are preventing violence against women', organized at the beach government college ground in the upazila.
Since the last parliamentary elections, various incidents of violence against women, including rape, sexual harassment in the region, have caused widespread discussion and agitation across the country. It is organized to create a comprehensive guide to the cause of the ongoing violence, the cause and the initiative of the local people and the public-private organizations that provide services. The dialogue was organized on the occasion of the International Women's Torture Prevention, jointly organized by the Participatory Research Action Network- (PAN) and Sagarika Social Development Organization, and in collaboration with the United Nations Population Fund and Actions Aid Bangladesh.
Deputy Commissioner Tanmay Das was the chief guest in the dialogue. Among others, 100 Aid Bangladesh Country Director Farah Kabir, Additional Superintendent of Police, Deepak Jyoti Khisha, Subnarchar Upazila Executive Officer ASM Binul Hasan and many others.
Participants in the dialogue raised awareness on prevention, prevention and prevention of violence against women in various public and private offices. He was also called upon to set the precedent by completing a speedy trial in a case of "serious torture".
