বিচারপ্রার্থী নারীকে ধর্ষণ ও মারধরের ঘটনায় অভিযুক্ত নোয়াখালীর সুবর্ণচর উপজেলার ২ নম্বর চরবাটা ইউনিয়ন পরিষদের (ইউপি) সেই চেয়ারম্যান মোজাম্মেল হোসেনকে কারাগারে পাঠিয়েছেন আদালত। বুধবার নোয়াখালীর নারী ও শিশু নির্যাতন দমন ট্রাইব্যুনাল-২ এর বিচারক জেলা জজ মোহাম্মদ সামস্উদ্দীন খালেদ জামিন নামঞ্জুর করে তাকে জেল হাজতে পাঠানোর আদেশ দেন।
এর আগে তাকে একই ঘটনায় সাময়িক বরখাস্ত করে স্থানীয় সরকার মন্ত্রণালয়।
আদালত সূত্রে জানা যায়, মোজাম্মেল হোসেন আদালতে আত্মসমার্পন করে জামিন প্রার্থণা করেন। আদালত তার আবেদনের শুনানী শেষে তাকে জেল হাজতে পাঠানোর নির্দেশ দেন। বিকেলে তাকে জেলা কারাগারে পাঠানো হয়েছে।
উল্লেখ, ২০১৭ সালের ৪ অক্টোবর রাতে সুবর্ণচরের চরবাটা ইউপির চেয়ারম্যান মোজাম্মেল হোসেনের কাছে বিচার চাইতে তার কার্যালয়ে যান এক নারী। পরদিন ৫ অক্টোবর চেয়ারম্যানের বিরুদ্ধে রাতভর আটকে রেখে মারধর ও ধর্ষণ করার অভিযোগে চরজব্বর থানায় মামলা করেন ওই নারী। মামলায় রবিউল নামের অপর এক ব্যক্তিকেও আসামি করা হয়।
ওই মামলা প্রথমে তদন্ত করে আদালতে চূড়ান্ত প্রতিবেদন দেয় জেলা গোয়েন্দা পুলিশ (ডিবি)। পরবর্তীতে আদালত প্রতিবেদন গ্রহণ না করে মামলাটি সহকারী পুলিশ সুপার পদমর্যাদার একজন কর্মকর্তাকে দিয়ে পুন:তদন্তের জন্য কর্তৃপক্ষকে নির্দেশ দেন। পুন:তদন্তের পর মোজাম্মেল হোসেনের বিরুদ্ধে আদালতে অভিযোগপত্র দাখিল করা হয়। গত ২৪ সেপ্টেম্বর তার বিরুদ্ধে গ্রেপ্তারি পরোয়ানা জারি করে নারী ও শিশু নির্যাতন দমন ট্রাইব্যুনাল-২।
এরপর তিন মাসের বেশি সময় পেরিয়ে গেলেও পুলিশ তাকে গ্রেপ্তার করেনি। এরই মধ্যে গত ২২ ডিসেম্বর স্থানীয় সরকার মন্ত্রণালয় থেকে নারী নির্যাতন মামলার আসামি হওয়ায় মোজাম্মেল হোসেনকে সাময়িক বরখাস্ত করা হয়েছে।

The court has sent Mozammel Hossain, the chairman of the Charbata Union Parishad (UP) to No 2 in Subarnchar upazila of Noakhali, accused of raping and beating a woman. District Judge Mohammad Shamsuddin Khaled, a judge of Noakhali's Women and Child Abuse Tribunal-2, on Wednesday rejected the bail and ordered him to be jailed.
Earlier, the local government ministry dismissed him in a similar incident.
According to court sources, Mozammel Hossain surrendered to the court and requested bail. After hearing his plea, the court ordered him to be jailed. He was taken to the District Jail in the afternoon.
According to the report, a woman went to her office on the night of October 26 to seek justice for the chairperson of Subarnachar Charbata UP, Mozammel Hossain. The woman filed a case with the chairperson on October 5 for allegedly beating and raping the chairman overnight. Another person named Rabiul was also charged in the case.
District Detective Police (DB) submitted the final report to the court after investigating the case first. Later, the court directed the authorities to re-investigate the case without accepting the report from an officer of the rank of Assistant Police Superintendent. After the re-investigation, a charge sheet was filed in the court against Mozammel Hossain. On September 23, the tribunal-2 oppressed women and children by issuing arrest warrants against him.
However, more than three months later, the police did not arrest him. Meanwhile, Mozammel Hossain has been temporarily suspended from the Ministry of Local Government on December 22 for being accused of female torture.
